Rui Patrício, born on 15 February 1988 in Portugal, currently plays as a goalkeeper for Atalanta in Italy. Standing at 6ft 2in (1.89m) tall and weighing 13st 3lb (84kg), he quite literally fills a large presence between the sticks. He is known for his number 28 jersey.

Patrício's professional football journey began at Sporting CP, one of Portugal's renowned football academies, in July 2005. Over the course of his career at Sporting CP, from the 2006-2007 season to the 2017-2018 season, he made a steady increase in first team appearances, peaking at 34 in the 2015-2016 and 2017-2018 season.
In the summer of 2018, Patrício made the move to England, joining Wolverhampton Wanderers. With Wolverhampton he held a consistent presence, making no less than 37 first team appearances in each of the three seasons he played with the club.
After three seasons in England, Rui Patrício transferred to Roma in Italy's Serie A for a fee of approximately £10m in July 2021. The goalkeeper went on to make numerous appearances during his time at Roma. He made 38 appearances in the 2021-2022 season, 35 in the 2022-2023 season, and 23 in the 2023-2024 season.
Completing his tour of Italy, Patrício moved from Roma to Atalanta in August 2024. For the current 2024 - 2025 season at Atalanta, Patrício has yet to make a first team appearance in league matches.
