Ryan Christie was born in Scotland on 22nd February 1995, standing at an imposing 5ft 10in (1.78m) tall and weighs 11st 2lb (71kg). The number 10 shirted midfielder has represented his home country, Scotland, on the international stage and currently plies his trade as a central attacking midfielder for the English Premier League club, Bournemouth.
Christie’s journey in professional football began at Inverness CT in Scotland's League One in July 2011. Over the years, he made a significant number of appearances for the club, including 15 in his debut season 2013-2014, where he scored three goals. His goal tally and appearances increased with every season, leading to his move to Celtic in September 2015 for a fee of around £500k.
His initial stint at Celtic saw him make appearances sporadically, mainly in the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 seasons, where he netted nine and eleven goals respectively. The following season, despite making 34 appearances, Christie’s goal tally dipped to five. His final season at Celtic in 2021-2022 saw him make a mere four appearances in the league games.
During his time at Celtic, there were a couple of loan spells. The first being a return to Inverness CT on loan in September 2015. The following January, Christie returned to Celtic after the conclusion of his loan spell. In January 2017, Christie was loaned out to Aberdeen making a total of 45 appearances and scoring ten goals in two seasons.
In more recent times Christie switched laces from Celtic to Bournemouth in England for an undisclosed fee in August 2021. He has since become a staple figure in the team, making plenty of first team appearances across various seasons while scoring sporadically. Not limited to club football, Christie has also left his mark on international competitions, featuring in Euro 2024 for Scotland, Euro Qualifiers 2022 - 2024, and the Nations League 2024 - 2025.
From quiet beginnings in Scotland's League One to becoming a central figure in a Premier League team, Ryan Christie’s football journey is no less than inspiring. As far as his contributions to Celtic are concerned, one cannot overlook his role in the team during his several seasons at the club and his significant contribution in goals which makes him an integral part of Celtic’s recent history.
