Scott Allan, a Scotsman born on 28th of November 1991, is no run-of-the-mill midfielder. With a stature of 5ft 8in and a weight of around 12st 1lb, he graced the central midfield position across various clubs in Scotland and England.
Allan's journey began at Dundee United in July 2008, from where he had a short loan spell at Forfar Athletic in early 2011. He returned to Dundee post-loan, however, his stint was short-lived as West Bromwich Albion snatched him in January 2012 for a transfer fee near £450,000.
His time at West Bromwich Albion, although short, saw him loaned to different clubs including Portsmouth, MK Dons, and Birmingham City, between 2012 and 2014.
Leaving the English soil behind, Allan returned to the Scottish Premiership with Hibernian in July 2014. This move would become a significant chapter in his career as it eventually led him to Celtic in August 2015 for a fee roughly amounting to £280,000.
The lad's stint at Celtic was a roller-coaster ride. From 2016 until 2018, he was loaned out three times, to Rotherham United, Dundee, and back to Hibernian. He returned to Celtic in June 2018, after his loan at Hibernian concluded.
Allan's second tenure at Celtic was short-lived as he was back with Hibernian in July 2019. Following brief stints with Inverness CT, and a return to Hibernian, he found himself at Arbroath in August 2022 and loaned to Larne in August 2023, until June 2024 when he returned back to Arbroath.
Throughout his career, Allan remained a potent midfielder who left his mark. At Forfar, he made four appearances and scored a goal while during his frustrating spell across English clubs he managed to find the net twice. Once with Portsmouth and then at Birmingham City.
However, it was in Scotland where Allan truly made the grass tremble. At Hibernian, he performed consistently across multiple seasons while during his limited tenure at Celtic, he made 13 appearances. His efforts at Arbroath and Larne in later years were also praiseworthy, demonstrating his commitment to the sport, irrespective of his location.
In essence, Scott Allan, Scotsman and a diligent midfielder, is remembered for his reliable contribution to the clubs he served and the unwavering conviction he demonstrated on the football field.
