Shane Duffy was born on 1 January 1992 in Northern Ireland. He is a defender, currently found strategically placing himself as a central defender for Norwich City in the Championship. Duffy stands at a striking 6ft 3in (1.93m) and weighs a formidable 11st 13lb (76kg). He is most commonly spotted on the pitch flaunting the number 4 jersey. Duffy's career started in November 2007, when he joined Everton in the Premier League.
Along his early journey, he spent a dismal season during 2011 - 2012 at Everton, with a mere four first team appearances. Nevertheless, Duffy stoically remained with Everton for the 2012 - 2013 season as well, albeit his unfortunate streak continued with just a single appearance. Furthermore, during the 2011 season, he went on loan to Burnley in the Championship, again only managing to make a solitary appearance.
Resiliently, Duffy returned to Everton, where his participation didn't see a vast improvement, with only five first team appearances in the seasons 2011 - 2012 and 2012 - 2013 combined. Not long after, he went on loan again, this time to Scunthorpe United in the National League North, where he managed 18 appearances and scored two goals.
In late 2013, Duffy found a change of scene in Yeovil Town in the National League on loan, a fortuitous move that saw him make an impressive 37 first team appearances. Duffy made a permanent transfer to Blackburn Rovers in the Championship for a fee of around £1.5m in September 2014, where he spent a productive three seasons, making a total of 63 appearances and scoring five goals.
Following his stint at Blackburn, Duffy transferred to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League for a substantial fee of £4.5m. Duffy made the most of his time at Brighton, making a solid 170 appearances over the course of five seasons, and scoring nine goals.
He took a brief break from Brighton to join Celtic in the Premiership, Scotland, on loan during the 2020 - 2021 season. Duffy's time at Celtic was fairly successful, despite it being rather brief. He appeared on the pitch 18 times, and managed to find the back of the net three times. However, Celtic fans will mostly remember him for his relentless commitment and unyielding 'never say die' attitude during his time at the club.
After his loan period at Celtic, Duffy once again returned to Brighton. Following a short loan period at Fulham, he completed a full transfer to the Cottagers, and made a distinguished five league appearances. In July 2023, he found his way to Norwich City in the Championship, where he's been ever since. Here, Duffy has managed to assert his place firmly, making 59 appearances, and scoring three goals. He has also participated in the League Cup 2024 - 2025 for Norwich City and Championship Play-offs 2023 - 2024 for the same team.
