Sivert Heltne Nilsen, a Norwegian-born midfielder, was born on the 2nd of October 1991 and at 33 years of age, plays as a central defensive midfielder for Aberdeen. With his stature standing at roughly 6ft (1.84m) and weight around 12st 3lb (78kg), he dons the number 6 jersey with pride. Transfermarkt values him at a tidy £400k, and his contract with Aberdeen is good for another 2 years and 9 months, due to expire in June 2027.
Heltne Nilsen's career began with a move to Hødd in the Norwegian 2. Divisjon in January 2009. He subsequently transferred to Valerenga in the OBOS-ligaen in January 2014, making 28 appearances in his debut season, and 13 the next. Yet, Brann in the Eliteserien managed to secure his services in July 2015 for an undisclosed fee. Over his multiple seasons with Brann (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2023, and the ongoing 2024 season), Heltne Nilsen has accumulated an impressive run, having made numerous first-team appearances and managing to find the back of the net on multiple occasions.
Yet, Heltne Nilsen ventured away from Norway, signing for AC Horsens in the Danish 1. Division in July 2018 for an undisclosed fee. His stint in Denmark was characterised by 22 first-team appearances and a goal in his debut season (2018-19), followed by 5 appearances the subsequent season. His next move was to IF Elfsborg in the Swedish Allsvenskan in August 2019, again for an undisclosed fee. Over the course of his two seasons with Elfsborg (2019, 2020), he had a consistent spell featuring in the first team and adding to his goal tally.
Heltne Nilsen found himself moving yet again, this time to Waasland-Beveren in the Belgian Derde Klasse in January 2021, secured for a cool sum just over £354k. Despite featuring nine times, he then found himself back at Brann in Norway in August 2021, bought for an undisclosed fee, donning his favourite jersey, and again adding to his impressive run. The current Aberdeen player then finally graced the Scottish Premiership with his presence after Brann sold him for approximately £267k in July 2024. In the ongoing 2024 - 2025 season with Aberdeen, he's been a regular in the first team with 10 league matches already under his belt. He even managed five starts in the League Cup 2024 - 2025 for Aberdeen.
