Victor Wanyama was born on the 25th June 1991 in Kenya. Now aged 33, his current endeavours in the world of football see him playing as a central defensive midfielder for CF Montreal, sporting the number 2 jersey. Standing 6ft (1.84m) tall with a healthy weight of 13st 9lb (87kg), he is a force to be reckoned with on the pitch. Additionally, his talents have been recognised internationally as he has proudly represented the Kenyan national team.
Wanyama got his first taste of professional football in July 2008 when he joined Beerschot AC located in Belgium's Vierde Klasse. While his first season was relatively quiet with only one league appearance to his name, by his third season with the team, he had acquired 26 appearances with one goal recorded.
In July 2011, Wanyama's career took him to new heights as he transferred to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership for a fee just shy of a cool £900,000. His time at Celtic was significant and fruitful. He quickly became a central figure in the squad, earning 29 first team appearances and scoring four goals in his debut season. His second season with the Hoops proved even more impressive, bagging six goals over 32 league appearances. The English Premier League set its sights on Wanyama, and in July 2013 he was transferred to Southampton for a staggering £13 million. Across his four seasons with Spurs, he made 68 first team appearances and scored six goals.
In March 2020, Wanyama ventured overseas to CF Montreal in the USA's MLS. Throughout his tenure at the club so far, he has become an integral part of the team, notching up regular appearances. The current 2024 season marks his fifth with the club and he has already recorded 12 first team appearances.
