The Royal Scottish Corporation, or as it’s been known since 2005, is the oldest Scottish charity operating outside of Scotland, and it can be estimated that the organisation has supported around a million first- and second-generation Scots since it began as the Scots Box in 1603. The charity believes that a combination of factors maintains disadvantage for clients, and as a result has adopted a holistic and needs led assessment process, through either direct services or referral to the required specialist help. The charity also organises social events and other activities, ensuring that Scots can come together and enjoy life in London a little bit more. “The winter period is particularly difficult for our clients, whether they are experiencing homelessness and having to cope with the challenge of finding ways to handle the worsening weather. We also have families who are living in poverty and cannot afford suitable clothing or increased heating costs for the home. Christmas tends to cause additional stress for those already struggling with inadequate food and ways of keeping warm and dry. The funding we receive is invaluable to our clients at this time of year. “Every year the cost of food, energy and clothing increases, meaning the hardship for our clients also increases. We are very grateful for the continued support of Celtic FC Foundation, thank you.” Jacqueline Walker,
